The Ocean Floor
Glad you could join us here on the ocean floor. Right here in this spot you can find sediments. Sediments are fragments of rocks agents of erosion pick up sediment and transport it to a new location where it is placed back on the ground. We call this process deposition. Sediment may also be pushed back into the earth due to tectonic activity or be further broken down into smaller fragments of rock.
Sediments can form from the breakdown of larger rocks from erosion or weathering. Igneous, Metamorphic, and Sedimentary rock can all be turned back into sediment if they go through a break down process where they are turned into little rock fragments.
